The kiaah lucah sebayaBlack Ops 7 reveal trailer featured a brief shot of Avalon, the long-rumored Warzone map, but leaks are already putting a stop to speculation that it’s coming as a battle royale map.
Call of Duty fans were taken by surprise when the Xbox Games Showcase ended with Black Ops 7, the next entry in the long-running series coming later this year. The first trailer revealed plenty of details about the game, most notably that it’s a near-future sequel to BO2, with many fan-favorite characters returning.
Article continues after adWhile it was mostly cinematics with very little gameplay to go off of, fans immediately noticed a shot of players dropping into a huge map. This vast open battleground appears to be Avalon, the setting of many of Black Ops 6’s maps.
The region was originally reported as a battle royale map, leading many fans to think that it’ll be the new Warzone map when Black Ops 7 launches, or even part of a new Blackout mode. However, according to leaks, this isn’t the case.

Immediately after the reveal, trusted CoD leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope’ explained that Avalon will appear in Black Ops 7, but as part of the co-op campaign, not a Warzone map.
“That Avalon shot IS NOT Warzone. It is from the co op campaign. Like I leaked before it was canned for Battle Royale and was being used for Campaign/Outbreak,” he said in the post.

The beloved Verdansk returned in April 2025, so it’s unlikely it’d be replaced by a new big map so soon. Players have been calling for map rotations for many years, but this has never been possible in the main BR mode, as last-gen consoles would be unable to cope.

Instead, it will serve as the backdrop for at least part of the campaign, which can be played solo or with friends. Many of the locations that featured in Black Ops 6, including some that appeared as multilayer maps, such as Skyline and Babylon, were set in Avalon, so it makes sense that the region would play a major role once again.
Article continues after adHowever, the sequel is set 40 years after the events of BO6, so expect it to look and feel very different this time around, with more futuristic technology on display.
Black Ops 7 is set to arrive in late 2025, but until then, there’s still plenty of major updates to come in Black Ops 6.
